Snake sneaking his way to the 360?
1up.com has a report this morning saying that Konami is apparently “looking into” the idea of porting Metal Gear Solid 4 to the Xbox 360. This would be a huge shock to the Sony faithful, as the title was one of the most highly anticipated games of the year and was, in fact, a system seller for the Playstation 3(see below). I can see the flame wars starting already!

One thing that would concern me would be the overall demand and reaction to the game. Sure, there are plenty of old-school Playstation fans who’ve made the jump to the 360 (or couldn’t initially afford a PS3), but most of what I’ve heard about the game - aside from how good it is - is that it’s a bit difficult to follow the story without knowing the history of the franchise. Could we see ports of the previous games as well to counteract this dilemma? Would Konami consider a 360 “Greatest Hits” collection? All we know now is speculation anyway based on one comment at the Tokyo Game Show, so we’ll have to wait and see.
If any of you have played MGS4, let us know what you think - Is this good or bad news? Will those who’ve never played an MGS title be totally lost when it comes to the story?

aw, that’d be awesome! I am in that camp of ex-PS2 gamers who have migrated to the 360, so I love the series and would love to play MGS4 without having to splurge for a PS3.
But looking back on the day when I first picked up a MGS game (which wasn’t when the series began), I think what matters most is not whether you’ve played the previous games, but whether MGSs style of storytelling is generally “your kind of thing”. The first MGS I played was Sons of Liberty, yet I loved it from the first breath irrespective of the fact that I hadn’t played the earlier iterations.

Max, I think you need to watch your Metal Gear Solids with you Madison Square Gardens, or Monosodium Glutamates. But thanks for the input :p

that’s what happens when people eat your brain at work
(For those of you who missed the joke I had misspelled MGS as MSG multiple times in my earlier post)
