“Final Fantasy XIII” makes it way to X-Box 360.
In what seems like another kick to Sony’s proverbial nads, Square-Enix announced today at the Microsoft press release at E3 that the newest title in their long-running and highly acclaimed franchise is no longer a PS3 exclusive. An X-Box 360 version of “Final Fantasy XIII” is in development.
But there’s a catch, ladies and germs. It seems as though the 360’s large install base in America and Europe was the reason for the recent decision on Square-Enix’s part. Thus, the multiplatform release will only take place in english-speaking countries. This means the game is still a PS3 exclusive, but only in Japan, where it will be released earlier. Yoichi Wada, who made the announcement today, made clear that, as of now, “Final Fantasy Versus XIII”, another game in the XIII universe, will remain a PS3 exclusive.
It’s a surprise, but it shouldn’t be. Square had once bitchslapped a game manufacturer, back in 1996, when they ditched Nintendo to embrace the PlayStation name for “Final Fantasy VII”. Square is like the slutty girl in highschool, who runs around without loyalty, shagging whoever’s popular at the moment.

What do you think of this announcement? I think it’s a sad day when I see a new “canon” Final Fantasy title with the X-Box 360 logo on the box-art. Oh well. I personally hope Sony unleashes a beast (of the FFVII REMAKE TEH CONFIRMED!!!! variety, lets hope) in their press conference tomorrow, otherwise, they’re proper ducked.

Whew, I thought I was the only one watching today
haha
This is a pretty big announcement, from an “exclusivity” standpoint. I didn’t think it was that amazing while watching, but I’m also not a fan of FF, but the more I thought about it, it’s definitely something big for them to steal what was a PS3-only title (at least outside Japan, as you mentioned).
I did like that Microsoft had asked G4 to pan out with their camera coverage rather than providing an up close view as they had with every other video presentation during the day. A little weird, and I’m not too sure what they were going for (people opening their cell phones like a concert tribute, perhaps?), but it was certainly different.

Yeah, MAJOR stab at Sony. Good thing they still have MGS 4, at least - too bad that awesome franchise is over now, though.
Anyway, the “slutty schoolgirl” analogy is pretty accurate
- and one day that slut is going to get old and start looking like she’s been around the block once too many times. So she may not have many more moves like this left in her. Well, that, and there aren’t really anymore consoles to run away to. She’s slept with them all now - 360 was the last jock on the football team. “Oh take me, 360, take me!”

I think it’s awesome that the FF series has finally come to the 360, I’m playing FF Tactics A2 on my DS right now(well not right this second) and it’s a lot of fun.
