Four young men fresh out of college prepare to face the harsh truths of the real world the only way they know how: by fleeing from them terrified into video games. Meet

Zac, Neil, Connors, and Eugene

- four roommates with hosts of neurosis and penchants for mayhem, as they displace all their frustrations and fears onto make-believe goblins, digitized gang members, and each other’s fragile bodies.

A freelance writer by trade, Zac has had a torrid love affair with video games since early childhood. He is never happier then when he has a controller in his hand and a flashing screen in front of him. Although he is normally calm, focused, and levelheaded, his obsession with video games has a tendency to periodically drive him to bizarre actions that land him in even more bizarre situations.

Mild and unassuming, Neil spends his days writing papers and doing research for his graduate classes, but in his heart he dreams about playing Japanese RPGs, particularly his beloved Final Fantasy Tactics. Being the least outgoing of the four roommates, he is frequently forced to put up with the antics of the other three, most especially a steady stream of verbal abuse from Eugene. He usually endures it all with quiet resignation, but occasionally hits a breaking point and explodes violently at his tormentor.

Connors absolutely despises people, which is a bit of a problem considering he sells televisions for a local electronics store and is paid on commission. Forced to make his living essentially groveling before those he loathes, he has slowly but surely become a beacon of white-hot rage in his off-hours. Each day of drifting aimlessly through life, Connors’ soul dies a little more, and so he plays video games to work out a tiny bit of his overwhelming frustration. Also, he drinks a bit.

Full of more bravado than should be legal, Eugene puts his knack for fast-talking to good use at the investment group in which he is slowly working his way towards a management position. Back at home he is always the first to suggest any kind of competitive gaming, as he loves any excuse to remind his roommates that they are scum when compared to him. From time to time, though, he lets something slip that implies all the cockiness and trash talking may be just a show.
